Sigma Pi FlagWhy Rush A Fraternity?

Friendship, Scholarship, Leadership and Community Service are a few important reasons.

The Greek system has adapted its focus to meet the expectations of today's college student, while maintaining the strong traditions each organization was built on. Fraternity membership can provide you with the means to balance your many demands, excel academically, make lifelong friendships and enhance your college experience.

Why Rush Sigma Pi?

Membership in Sigma Pi Fraternity is a lifelong experience. Through membership in Sigma Pi you will be introduced to a world of opportunity and leadership. Sigma Pi believes strongly in brotherhood and to maintain the relationships that you make while an active member throughout your life. Scholarship, chivalry, culture, and building character are what Sigma Pi strives to make real in daily lives and it is important that potential members believe in these ideals.

Brotherhood

With the variety of things members of the fraternity do together, it allows them to get to know each other very well. Nowhere else can a man get to know as many different men, as well as he can in his fraternity. There are opportunities for making friends on other campuses among the many men with whom you share Sigma Pi. Sigma Pi is a group of good friends, living, working, studying and having a good time together.

Scholarship

As a primary concern for Sigma Pi brothers we hold weekly quiet/study hours at the chapter house as well as the library. Each new member and active brother must maintain a minimum GPA each term to participate in chapter activities. Advice and tutoring from older brothers who know the courses and the professors is a great advantage to being a brother of Sigma Pi. The Fraternity relies on the belief that man's goal is to form a better world and enrich his surroundings with the application of wisdom and knowledge gained through education. Sigma Pi teaches the fundamentals for leadership ability, business, sociology, responsibility, and general administrative skills. There are many academic and leadership scholarship opportunities ranging in size from $250 to over $5,000 available through the Sigma Pi Fraternity Educational Foundation as well.

Alumni Relations/Job Placement

Your Sigma Pi experience does not end when you leave college. You will find many business connections through the alumni during college for internships and job placement. Sigma Pi alumni have played a crucial role with placing our new graduates in the job field the past few years. With over 195 chapters chartered across North America, as an alumnus you share a bond with nearly 100,000 Sigma Pi men and have the opportunity to participate in local alumni clubs and receive Sigma Pi benefits throughout the country.

Personal Growth

A member of Sigma Pi has a chance to learn the value of teamwork, to learn leadership by doing, and to develop a sense of responsibility. Growth in Sigma Pi helps fine-tuning your professional skills and organization, follow-through, and speaking and making presentations in front of groups. Sigma Pi gives the opportunity to learn from the advice and experiences of older brothers and alumni.

Social Experience

No other college lifestyle offers the variety of social life that fraternities can. This social experience leads to the ability to handle yourself with confidence in all kinds of social situations. Throughout the year, we host a variety of social events including: themed parties at the chapter house, a winter formal in Florence, date parties, brotherhood nights, big bro/little bro nights, and functions with sororities such as Mafia Wedding (a week long squirt gun fight).

"Frats" And Hazing

Although we do have a good time, Sigma Pi is not a “frat,” it is a Fraternity. We are here to better ourselves as gentlemen and grow together as brothers. We are a Fraternity of gentlemen not to be put under the image of a party house. Sigma Pi has a zero tolerance policy for hazing. Two of the ideals of Sigma Pi are to raise the standards of morality and to develop character as well as encouraging chivalry. We believe that hazing of any manner is counter these ideals. Hazing is a disrespect toward the man you call your brother.
